The FBI is 'gathering facts' regarding accusations that the 'Allied' actor was verbally and physically abusive towards one of his kids onboard a private plane.

AceShowbiz - While LAPD denied rumors about investigating Brad Pitt for alleged child abuse and DCFS refused to comment on the matter due to confidentiality issues, FBI confirmed they're handling the case. It was referred to the FBI because the incident took place on an international flight.

"In response to your inquiry regarding allegations within the special aircraft jurisdiction of the United States; specifically, an aircraft carrying Mr. Brad Pitt and his children, the FBI is continuing to gather facts and will evaluate whether an investigation at the federal level will be pursued," the FBI said.

According to rumor mills, Brad Pitt became verbally and physically abusive towards at least one of his kids when he was flying from Nice, France, to Burbank, California with Angelina Jolie. The family made a stop in Minnesota halfway through their trip to refuel. An airport source said, "They did take the complaint at the tarmac after someone had anonymously called from the air."

Angelina Jolie has filed for divorce from Brad Pitt for "the health of the family." She asked for physical custody of their children and demanded judge give her estranged husband visitation rights only. As Brad vehemently denied child abuse allegations, reports emerged that the couple fought over parenting styles and his drinking problem.
