AceShowbiz - A man named Spencer Morrill thinks he has been dating Katy Perry for six years. In an episode of "Catfish: the TV Show" aired on MTV on Wednesday, August 17, Spencer said that he's been communicating with the "Rise" hitmaker through texts and emails, and sharing information with her that only she could know.

"I've been talking to this woman for the past six years," Spencer began. "I'm in love with her. She's awesome." He told presenters Nev Schulman and Max Joseph that "it was an immediate connection." Spencer continued, "A million 'I love yous' back and forth. It was pretty cool."

He said he even bought the 31-year-old singer an engagement ring using his granny's emerald. After collecting the information, the presenters said that the woman, who claimed to be Katy Perry touring in Canada, was actually a Canadian woman named Harriet who was living in England all along.

However, Spencer didn't want to believe he had been catfished as he demanded some proof from the presenters. "We've found the person you've been talking to beyond really any shred of doubt, and you still want to believe the thing that makes you happier," Nev told him. "You need to know that you're not talking to Katy Perry."

He added, "And you [Harriet] need to start thinking about the fact that this is the actual human being. As weird and crazy as he might be, he has a heart and was giving it to you 100 percent for six years of his life. For both of you, there's some self reflection that needs to happen."

Harriet apologized to Spencer after saying, "For me it was enjoyable." She continued, "I'm like genuinely sorry, I can't change what I did, but I understand that it was really wrong." Meanwhile, Spencer said, "I'll be okay. I'll be fine. The bad's in the past. What's ahead will be good."
