Amy Adams Makes First Contact With Alien in First Full Trailer for 'Arrival'
Movie

The new footage puts the spotlight on Adams' Louise Banks as she finally makes first contact with the extraterrestrials and has a 'proper introduction.'

AceShowbiz - The first full trailer for Denis Villeneuve's "Arrival" has been released by Paramount Pictures. While the previous teaser centers on Amy Adams' Louise Banks trying to communicate with the alien, the new video puts the spotlight on the linguist as she finally makes first contact with the extraterrestrials.

She can be seen trying to decipher the alien's language after having a "proper introduction" with them. Though she seems happy to finally make progress in communicating, Louise warns the crew, "We need to make sure they understand the difference between a weapon and a tool." She adds, "Language is messy, and sometimes one can be both."

Another scene shows her telling Agent Halpern (Michael Stuhlbarg) that it could be a way for the world to band together. However, the agent says, "It's more complicated than that. Russia just executed one of their own to keep their secrets."

In "Arrival", when mysterious spacecrafts touch down across the globe, an elite team led by expert linguist Louise Banks is brought together to investigate. As mankind teeters on the verge of global war, Banks and the team race against time for answers. And to find them, she will take a chance that could threaten her life, and quite possibly humanity.

Villeneuve directed the film from a script provided by Eric Heisserer. Also starring Jeremy Renner, Forest Whitaker, Mark O'Brien, Tzi Ma and Abigail Pniowsky, the sci-fi thriller will have its world premiere at Venice Film Festival on September 2 before coming to U.S. theaters on November 11 this year.
