'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story' First Full Trailer Brings Back Darth Vader

The video which premiered during Rio Olympics on NBC on Thursday night, August 11 offers the first look at the Dark Lord of the Sith sporting his iconic black cloak and helmet.

AceShowbiz - The first official trailer for "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" has been released online for fans' viewing pleasure. The new footage, which premiered during Rio Olympics on NBC on Thursday night, August 11, gives closer look at the rebel alliances and features the very first appearance of Darth Vader sporting his iconic black cloak and helmet.

The video opens with Felicity Jones' Jyn Erso meeting with Forest Whitaker's Saw Gerrera who tells her that "the world is coming undone, Imperial flags reign across the galaxy." In another scene, Jyn says in a voiceover, "There isn't much time. Every day they grow stronger." Fans can hear the ominous heavy breathing of the Dark Lord of the Sith at the end of the video.

The movie follows Jyn, a Rebellion soldier and outlaw who is about to experience her biggest challenge when Genevieve O'Reilly's Mon Mothma gives her a mission to steal the plans for the Death Star. With the aid of the Rebels, a master swordsman and non-allied forces, Jyn will be in for something bigger than she thinks.

Directed by Gareth Edwards from a screenplay written by Chris Weitz, the movie also stars Diego Luna as Captain Cassian Andor, Ben Mendelsohn as Director Orson Krennic, Riz Ahmed as Bodhi Rook and Donnie Yen as Chirrut Imwe. They are joined by Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Wen Jiang, Jimmy Smits and Jonathan Aris.

"Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" hits U.S. theaters on December 17 this year.
