The former 'The View' co-host will play a gym teacher, while the 'Three Stooges' actor is cast in the role of Mr. Pinky in the upcoming NBC live musical.

AceShowbiz - "Hairspray Live!" is recruiting two veteran actors to join its cast. During the show's panel at the Television Critics Association summer press tour on Tuesday, August 2, it's announced that Rosie O'Donnell and Sean Hayes would also star in the NBC live musical.
O'Donnell is set to portray a gym teacher, while Hayes will portray Mr. Pinky, owner of the dress shop. The two actors couldn't hide their excitement at being parts of the live production. Former "The View" co-host O'Donnell tweeted, "i am so excited to be a part of #hairspraylive on @NBC! can't wait to bring it to life on december 7 !!!" The "Will & Grace" alum similarly posted, "I am so excited to be a part of @HairsprayLive on @NBC! I can't wait to bring it to life on Dec 7th. #HairsprayLive."

They join Maddie Baillio, Martin Short, Harvey Fierstein, Derek Hough, Jennifer Hudson, Kristin Chenoweth and Ariana Grande who were earlier cast for "Hairspray Live!". Also during the TCA panel, it was revealed that the show would not feature any new songs.
Executive produced by Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, "Hairspray Live!" will be directed by Kenny Leon with Fierstein writing the teleplay. The live musical will be filmed in Los Angeles and air Wednesday, December 7 at 8 P.M. ET.
