While Keane's story seems to be similar to Hillary Clinton's, Claire Danes previously said that the character would not be based on the Democratic nominee. " 'Homeland's' new president will not be a thinly veiled Hillary Clinton figure but rather 'a composite of all the different candidates,' " she explained.
The actress described the TV president as a politician who "challenges the norms (and) is a little scary for that reason." She also revealed that the female commander-in-chief "gets along with Carrie Mathison pretty well," seemingly hinting at Carrie's return to a governmental position.
