'Indiana Jones 5' Won't Be the Last, Harrison Ford Is Not 'Too Old' for It

Disney CEO Bob Iger reveals that more 'Indiana Jones' films are coming after the fifth movie.

AceShowbiz - "Indiana Jones V" will not be the last movie in the franchise, says Disney CEO Bob Iger. According to Bob, more films are coming after the fifth installment. "I don't think it reaches the scale of the universe of 'Star Wars', but I see making more," he says, "It won't be just a one-off."

When asked if the studio plans to exploit the "Indiana Jones" universe the same way like "Star Wars", Bob tells The Hollywood Reporter, "Not like 'Star Wars', no. But we hope ... right now, we're focused on a reboot, or a continuum and then a reboot of some sort."

If it is a reboot, will there be a younger Indiana Jones despite Harrison Ford's return? "Well, we'll bring him [Ford] back, then we have to figure out what comes next," Bob explains, "That's what I mean. It's not really a reboot, it's a boot - a reboot. I don't know. We [got] Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones in the film. But then what's the direction? I've had discussions about what the direction is, [but] I don't want to get into it."

In another interview, Steven Spielberg defends Harrison from critics who said the actor is too old to play Indiana Jones. He previously promised that he wouldn't kill off Harrison's character.

"As Harrison matures so does his character and yet he did so many of his own stunts in 'The Force Awakens'," Steven tells New York Daily News, "He keeps himself in such brilliant physical shape that I don't believe when 2018 comes around, which is when I'm slated to direct the fifth installment coming out in 2019, I think Harrison is going to be able do a lot of what the script is asking him to do. We're not concerned about that at all."

During a Monday press event for "The BFG", Steven revealed that George Lucas would be back to the "Indiana Jones" franchise as an executive producer. "George is going to be an executive producer on it with me," he shared, "I would never make an Indiana Jones film without George Lucas. That'd be insane."

"Indiana Jones V" is scheduled to be released in the U.S. on July 19, 2019.
