A movie adaptation of the hit 2006 MTV series is reportedly closer than ever to happening.

AceShowbiz - "The Hills" reunion movie is reportedly in the works at MTV. According to a source, original stars Kristin Cavallari, Whitney Port and Audrina Patridge were all approached and expressed interest to do a reunion movie, but Lauren Conrad has been the one holdout.

The source tells EW that the initial concept for the film adaptation will begin with Audrina's wedding in Australia with her friends in attendance. The movie will then catch up with the cast, who are now almost all in their 30s and leading very different lives. They want to make it like the first "Sex and the City" movie.

Reps for MTV and Lauren have not commented on the report yet.

Lauren will appear on a TV special, "The Hills: That Was Then, This Is Now", airing on August 2 on MTV. She announced the news on Twitter on the 10th Anniversary of "The Hills" on Tuesday, May 31.

"Looking back, I am grateful for the incredible opportunity we were given to take part in this show," Lauren wrote in her personal blog, "While it was hard at times to share my personal life (poor makeup choices and all) with the world; the experience taught me so much and forever altered my life and my outlook for the better."

She added, "So I will be partnering with MTV on a special project that will air on August 2nd at 10 P.M. We will be having an honest conversation about what it was really like living with cameras for so many years (spoiler alert: it was super weird), sharing some behind-the-scene secrets, and showing some of my life today."
