Ang Lee's Ambitious Project 'Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk' Gets First Teaser

The war drama would be a new cinematic experience because the director uses 120 frames per second instead of the standard 24.

AceShowbiz - First teaser trailer of "Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk" is released, revealing the creative genius of Ang Lee. The film is the first project he took since he won an Oscar through 2012's "Life of Pi".

Based on the best-selling book of the same name by Ben Fountain, the film is told from the point of view of 19-year-old private Billy Lynn who, along with his fellow soldiers in Bravo Squad, becomes a hero after a harrowing Iraq battle and is brought home temporarily for a victory tour. Through flashbacks, culminating at the spectacular halftime show of the Thanksgiving Day football game, the film reveals what really happened to the squad - contrasting the realities of the war with America's perceptions.

"It's sort of weird being honored for the worst day of your life," a voiceover kicks off the teaser. Billy begins that celebratory walk as flashbacks from the war days interject. The harrowing condition in the frontline is set against the glitzy Thanksgiving Day football game, where the soldiers are to be honored.

Newcomer Joe Alwyn stars as the titular character, supported by Kristen Stewart, Chris Tucker, Garrett Hedlund, Vin Diesel and Steve Martin. "Billy Lynn" will hit U.S. theaters on November 11.

Lee made this a huge and ambitious project by shooting it at 120 frames per second, with the standard being 24. "The technology's really different," Lee told Variety last month. "We're the first ones to do this. But how do you do the art, using this technology? That is more difficult. It is humbling. I can tell you I'm beginning to know that I don't know. And that's an important step."
