'Godzilla 2', the follow-up to Gareth Edwards' 2014 movie, is pushed back nine months, while the monster mash-up movie that pits Godzilla against King Kong gets a 2020 release date.

AceShowbiz - Godzilla isn't returning to theaters until 2019. Warner Bros. has announced new release dates for several movies, including a new date for "Godzilla 2". Initially set for a June 8, 2018 release in the U.S., the sequel to Gareth Edwards' 2014 kaiju reboot has been pushed back nine months and is now slated to open on March 22, 2019. On the new date, the "Godzilla" sequel avoids a competition with Paramount's "Transformers 6", but will now open against Paramount's animated movie "Amusement Park".

Just a little over a year later, the monster will be pitted against King Kong in the mash-up movie "Godzilla vs. Kong" which now has got a release date. The project, which still has no director and writer attached to, is scheduled to arrive May 29, 2020.

King Kong will first appear in "Kong: Skull Island" due out March 10, 2017 before the showdown with Godzilla.

WB has also pushed back the date for an untitled DC superhero film, which is believed to be "Green Lantern Corps", from June 19, 2020 to July 24, 2020. Meanwhile, an unnamed Christmas movie is set to open on December 25, 2018.
