Bruce Springsteen Deemed 'Bully' for Canceling Concert in Support of LGBT Community

A North Carolina congressman said 'House Bill 2' was meant to keep imposters away from women's bathroom instead of discriminating the transgenders.

AceShowbiz - Bruce Springsteen just showed a major support for the LGBT community, especially the one living in North Carolina. The Boss canceled his Sunday, April 10 concert in Greensboro in protest of the state's newly-passed "House Bill 2" aka bathroom law discriminating LGBT individuals.

"Taking all of this into account," Springsteen wrote on his website Friday, "I feel that this is a time for me and the band to show solidarity for those freedom fighters. As a result, and with deepest apologies to our dedicated fans in Greensboro, we have canceled our show scheduled for Sunday, April 10th."

The bill only allows transgender people certain public restrooms and prevents LBGT individuals to sue over human rights violations in the workplace. "Some things are more important than a rock show and this fight against prejudice and bigotry - which is happening as I write - is one of them," Springsteen added. "It is the strongest means I have for raising my voice in opposition to those who continue to push us backwards instead of forwards."

His radical move has invited criticism from a U.S. congressman in Greensboro. "It's disappointing he's not following through on his commitments," Mark Walker, a Republican freshman congressman, told THR. "We've got other artists coming soon - Def Leppard, Justin Bieber. I've never been a Bieber fan, but I might have to go. Maybe artists who weren't 'born to run' deserve a little bit more support."

Walker continued, "Bruce is known to be on the radical left, and he's got every right to be so, but I consider this a bully tactic. It's like when a kid gets upset and says he's going to take his ball and go home."

Walker argued that the bill was meant to keep criminals away from women's bathroom instead of shunning LGBT people. "I choose to stand with our sheriffs, who support this bill, which doesn't target the LGBTQ community; it targets imposters," Walker said. "It's a little crazy to think sexual predators wouldn't be devious enough to pull something off if they were free to go into any bathroom they want."
