Music

Two years after putting out her breakout hit 'All About That Bass', the singer previews her next album with the single 'No' which has so far peaked at No. 11 on Billboard Hot 100.

AceShowbiz - This year's shaping up to be another big one for Meghan Trainor. Weeks after receiving the Best New Artist Award at the Grammys in February, the singer stormed the charts with her newest single, "No".

The catchy girl anthem was released earlier this month and it made its debut on Billboard Hot 100 at No. 11. It instantly became her fourth-highest-charting single on the list, following "All About That Bass" (No. 1), "Lips Are Movin" (No. 4) and "Like I'm Gonna Lose You" featuring John Legend (No. 8) which were all lifted off her 2015 debut effort, "Title".

"No" is the first single from Trainor's second album, "Thank You", which is scheduled for release on May 20. In a recent interview with Billboard, she explained how the upcoming project would be different from its predecessor, saying that fans might be surprised when they first hear it.

"When you first listen to [the album] you might go, 'Whoa, who is this?' Then you hear my quirky lyrics and throwback melodies, and it sounds like Meghan Trainor sounds," she shared. "There's hard drums with some funk in them, and some straight-up unplugged songs, some classic songs where it's just me and a guitar or me and a ukulele."

She also teased some "Carribean influences" on the album. "Since I was seven, my Trinidadian uncle came into our family - he married my aunt - and I've been listening to Caribbean music," she said. "I love Soca, this amazing genre that's calypso and Caribbean influenced. It makes you feel good and it's not on the radio as much over here as I want it to be. So I want to bring a bit over... I'm trying to show all the genres that Meghan Trainor can do as a songwriter."
