The soon-to-be-hit is leading the singer's upcoming second album, 'Thank You', which is due out sometime this year.

AceShowbiz - Meghan Trainor has returned with her new single, "No". As promised, the singer dropped the track on Friday, March 4 as the first offering from her upcoming sophomore album, which she has announced would be titled "Thank You".

The doo-wop/R&B/pop song has everything it needs to become one of the biggest pop anthems this year. On it, Trainor shows off her sassy side as she rejects a man who's trying to flirt with her. "My name is NO/ My sign is NO/ My number's NO," she sings.

"No" was co-written and produced by Ricky Reed. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Trainor said that the song was made right after L.A. Reid, her boss at Epic Records, said she didn't have a single yet for her new album.

"He said I have an album of Nice Meghan and that I needed to be sassy. So I said, 'I'm going to the studio to write you a smash!' " she recalled. "I told my producer we needed a big eff-you song, an anthem about girl power that sounded like nothing on the album. We wrote ['No'] that day."

Her work paid off when she played it to Reid and found out he really liked it. "I was too scared to go by myself," she said. "So we had tequila, and then we played it. L.A. played it 29 times - and we kept counting. I'll never forget that moment."

Trainor's "Thank You" is due out sometime this year as a follow-up to last year's "Title". Reed is serving as executive producer. In the same interview with EW, Trainor teased the upcoming project, comparing it to a Bruno Mars record.

"People told me, 'Don't do what they expect,' " she said. "I've put some doo-wop on it. And Ricky Reed and Jay Cash and some other writers helped me unlock this world of funk - it's a new sound I'm excited about. It sounds like the girl version of a Bruno Mars record. It's kind of a throwback."
