The studio will traditionally release the film in theaters across North America this summer and stream it on Prime Video afterwards.

AceShowbiz - Woody Allen's 1930s romance film finds home in Amazon Studios. The Amazon.com's division will distribute the not-yet-titled film theatrically this summer in North America and stream it exclusively to Prime members through Prime Video later.

"Woody Allen is a brilliant filmmaker. We're so proud to be in business with him for both his next film and his first-ever TV series," said Roy Price, head of Amazon Studios. Allen chimed in, "Like all beginning relationships, there is much hope, mutual affection and genuine goodwill - the lawsuits come later."

The project was shot in several locations in New York and Los Angeles last summer. It was the first time that Allen has chosen to make a film in the greater Los Angeles area since his 1977 classic "Annie Hall".

Kristen Stewart and Jesse Eisenberg take the lead roles in the film which also stars Steve Carell, Parker Posey, Corey Stoll and Blake Lively among others. Allen, who wrote the screenplay, is famous for keeping his projects a secret until last minutes. Some on-set photos, however, revealed Stewart and Eisenberg as lovers.

Allen is also writing a miniseries starring himself, Miley Cyrus and Elaine May for Amazon TV, but he has been feeling the pressure. "I have regretted every second since I said OK," he told Deadline last year. "It's been so hard for me. I had the cocky confidence, well, I'll do it like I do a movie ... it'll be a movie in six parts. Turns out, it's not. For me, it has been very, very difficult."
