James Corden, who was set to introduce RiRi at the Monday event, shares how the singer's performance would have looked like.

AceShowbiz - Many were disappointed when Rihanna canceled her Grammy performance at the last minute because of an illness. To make it even bitter, James Corden has shared how cool her performance would have looked like.

The British comedian, who was set to introduce RiRi at the Monday, February 15 event, shared to his "The Late Late Show" audience the singer's elaborate plans for her performance. "A couple of weeks ago, I got asked if I would introduce Rihanna on the show," he began.

"I get this phone call saying Rihanna has this big thing planned for her song 'Kiss It Better' and she's doing like a whole '80s talk show thing and it's going to be really cool," he dished on. Corden added that he was asked to play the host of a fictional '80s talk show called "As It Lays".

When the "Into the Woods" star was informed that Rihanna was told by doctor that she's not allowed to sing because it could damage her voice, Corden was ready to fill in for her. "And I immediately go, 'I hear what you're saying. Yes, I'll fill the spot. I'll do it,' " he joked.

But the segment was ultimately cut and the Grammy host LL Cool J invited Corden to introduce the star-studded Lionel Richie tribute performance instead.

Rihanna herself was reportedly so disappointed that she couldn't perform that night. She had showed up at Los Angeles' Staples Center where the awards show was held, though she didn't walk the red carpet, before reluctantly leaving the venue and going home.

The Bajan beauty then took to Twitter to apologize to fans. "#NAVY so sorry I couldn't be there ..... Thanks Grammys and CBS for your support tonight," so she wrote.
