The 40-year-old actress is in negotiations to star in the drama about a group of people's attempt to help a man with deep personal tragedy.

AceShowbiz - Kate Winslet could be starring opposite Will Smith and Helen Mirren in New Line's "Collateral Beauty". The Oscar-winning actress is in talks to join the star-studded cast of the David Frankel-directed unconventional drama.

The film centers on a New York advertising exec who experiences a deep personal tragedy. His colleagues devise a unique plan to break him out of his depression - which works, but not in a way that anyone imagined. "Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps" scribe Allan Loeb wrote the script.

Smith is playing the executive. Search was on for an actress in the key supporting role, and an earlier report said Rachel McAdams was close to securing the role. However, THR said the McAdams casting was premature and Winslet was the one nearing the deal.

The film also includes such cast as Edward Norton, Michael Pena and Naomie Harris. Keira Knightley is also in negotiations to join the lots. Production is slated to kick off in a few weeks in New York for a December 16 release.
