The 'Concussion' actor talks about his two teenage kids, Jaden and Willow Smith, who are known for their unique artistic expressions.

AceShowbiz - Will Smith got candid as he discussed his parenting skills during an interview on BBC Radio 1Xtra. The "Concussion" star joked he and wife Jada Pinkett Smith may have given their kids, Jaden Smith and Willow Smith, too much free rein.

"Yeah, I think it may have been a mistake," the Oscar-nominated actor laughed as he commented on his two teenage children who have been pushing the boundaries when it came to their own unique artistic expressions. "I think we may have gone too far."

But he added, "There's a really powerful internal quality as an artist that as parents we encourage. You gotta get out on the edge, you have to try things, you have to be comfortable doing things that people don't agree with, and you have to be comfortable doing things that you could fail."

Of his son Jaden who has become the new face of Louis Vuitton womenswear, Will said, "Jaden is 100|percent| fearless, he will do anything. So as a parent it's scary, it's really terrifying - but he is completely willing to live and die by his own artistic decisions and he just doesn't concern himself with what people think."

About house rules, the actor explained, "When [the boys] go out, they're with six or seven dudes so they have a small army. So their freedom is slightly different from Willow's. Willow's a 15-year-old girl, so we try to have the same rules, but it's a different world, so we've been struggling with that."

Willow's curfew on Fridays and Saturdays is 11:00 or 11:30. But like most teens, Will said, "She keeps calling and adding 15 minutes."
