Artist of the Week: Charlie Puth
Music

Since co-writing and featured in Wiz Khalifa's 'See You Again', Puth has collaborated with everyone, got nominated for multiple awards and released his debut album.

AceShowbiz - In the past one year, Charlie Puth went from a YouTube sensation to a global pop star with both Grammy and Golden Globe nominations after being featured on Wiz Khalifa's "See You Again" which he also co-wrote for the "Furious 7" soundtrack. Following the song's release, he's been everywhere from joining forces with Meghan Trainor for the catchy "Marvin Gaye" to assisting Lil Wayne on "Nothing but Trouble" to collaborating with Selena Gomez on "We Don't Talk Anymore".

His sudden rise to fame, however, didn't happen so easily. The singer, who graduated from the Berklee College of Music where he majored in music production and engineering, independently released two albums a few years ago and drew the attention of Ellen DeGeneres with his and Emily Luther's cover of Adele's "Someone Like You". The two were later signed to the talk show host's label before Puth left and joined Atlantic Records.

Under Atlantic, Puth dropped the "Some Type of Love" EP last year. Most recently, he released his major label debut album, which he calls "Nine Track Mind". The project was originally planned for release late last year, but for some reasons it was delayed until January 29.

"I'm really looking forward to people hearing this body of work that I've poured my heart into," Puth told Teen Vogue in a new interview of his full-length project. "I've never poured so much of my heart into anything like before and I'm nervous for people to just see - they're hearing a lot of things about me."

The New Jersey-born star will follow the album with a tour that is opening later this year. He went on revealing to the publication that fans could expect Selena Gomez to pop up with him on the stage for a performance of their duet.

"I'm excited to play 'We Don't Talk Anymore'. And you know, if Selena's around maybe she'll hop on stage too. I'm actually joining Selena for a couple dates on her tour as well," he shared.
