The 41-year-old actor is stepping aside the project after health concerns over the weight gain necessary to play the iconic carmaker.

AceShowbiz - Christian Bale has dropped out of Michael Mann's "Enzo Ferrari" biopic, Deadline reports. According to the site, the star of "The Dark Night Rises" is stepping aside the project after health concerns over the weight gain necessary to play the iconic carmaker.

The start date of spring this year was simply too soon for Christian to gain the necessary weight in the short time. The site claims that the star of "The Big Short" is currently moving fast to re-cast the iconic role and is currently speaking to some heavyweight actors.

"Ferrari" biopic is planning to shoot this summer in Italy. Italian Job scribe Troy Kennedy-Martin wrote the script based on Brock Yates' book "Enzo Ferrari, The Man, The Cars, The Races".

The biopic takes place in 1957, a year where passion, failure, success and death and life all collided. Enzo, who died in 1988 at the age of 90, would be in his 50s at that time.

Vendian Entertainment and YooZoo Bliss Film Fund are financing the project with Paramount distributing in most territories and YooZoo Pictures distributing in China.
