Following %cZayn Malik%'s exit in March 2015, the remaining members decided "not to renew their recording contract" when their tour ended in October. A close insider claims, "The 1D thing just ran its course. They'll remain friends, but they are exhausted and want solo careers."
%cHarry Styles% "is launching a career in acting and singing," says the source. Another insider reveals that %cLiam Payne% "is really interested in songwriting and production." Meanwhile, %cLouis Tomlinson% is expected to have his hands full with diaper duty as a first-time dad.
It's not the first time %cNiall Horan% and his three bandmates were hit with breakup rumors, but those were always denied by the boys in the past. However, their label boss %cSimon Cowell% did hint in August that he would not force the foursome to reunite after their lengthy break.
