The Swedish songbird shares the song as a preview of her next album and as a thank-you gift to fans for their support throughout the year.

AceShowbiz - Tove Lo is releasing a new album next year and she's let them know what to expect from the upcoming record through a demo of new song called "Influence". The Swedish singer/songwriter shared the track on the final day of her #12MomentsOfChristmas campaign "so you get a feel of what's coming in 2016," she wrote in a tweet with a link to her SoundCloud page.

On the dark electro/pop tune, Lo sings the drink-and-drug-referencing lyrics over the synths and drum lines. "You know I'm under the influence/ So don't trust every word I say, I say/ When I'm under the influence/ It's a blur, but I want my way, my way," she sings the chorus.

In a lengthy Facebook message, Lo said this was the first song she wrote since undergoing vocal chord surgery at the beginning of 2015, which resulted in cancellations of her tour dates. She released the demo also as a thank-you gift to fans for their support.

"At Christmas last year I had no idea if I would ever sing again... 2015 started off in silence with my vocal chord operation and slowly gaining back my voice. I wanna thank you for being so supportive and giving me so much love during this time, cheering me on and being so understanding when I had to cancel shows and tours," she wrote.

"This year has been scary, intense, magic, amazing, heartbreaking, new, insane, unknown and unreal. You've all been a part of it with me and I wanna thank you for that by giving you a little taste of what's coming," she added. "Enjoy my new song 'INFLUENCE' babes. First song I wrote this year after the surgery. Let's get ready for 2016 together."
