As an independent artist, the dancehall singer wants to release a song with serious messages.

AceShowbiz - Sean Paul is spreading encouragement and lifting up spirits in "Never Give Up" music video. The Jamaican singer returned to his hometown of Kingston to shoot the video with Steven "Streets" Benard and give a peek on how the country struggles with its economy.

The song talks about how "one day everything's gonna be alright" when you don't give up. The video follows two men working hard to get money, selling newspaper and washing a car, and got more than they expected. Turns out the men used the money for bigger purpose. Jamaica's FAME FM radio host Nicole "Nikki Z" Duhaney made a cameo at the end of the video.

"My music has always been about partying but there comes a time when you just have to say something about the problems people are going through," Paul told Billboard. "The whole world is under pressure right now - the financial meltdown, war, terrorism, people are dealing with a lot so I wrote 'Never Give Up' about how I felt and how other people are feeling, too."

Paul went on talking about why he parted ways with Atlantic Records in 2014 because "the few songs I have previously done with serious messages were never picked as singles." He added, "Party songs have weighed heavily in my success - they are fun, an escape, and are still something I love, but to be a balanced artist you must have songs like 'Never Give Up' that are based in reality."

"Never Give Up" is Sean's collaboration with Justus Arison. "Sean and I talked about doing another party song but I thought he should do something that other artists weren't doing on the riddim so we made 'Never Give Up' for people who are in the struggle in Jamaica," Arison said, adding "I love the song's message of hope and strength, it's powerful and I think it has great potential internationally."

The song will be released independently as an official single in early 2016.
