Netflix Leads 2016 Golden Globe Nominations in TV With Eight Nods

'Transparent', 'Mr. Robot', 'Outlander', 'Fargo', 'Wolf Hall', and 'American Crime' collect three nods each at the 73rd annual show.

AceShowbiz - Nominations list in television this year is dominated by streamers. Netflix leads the pack with eight nods, followed by HBO with seven, Starz with six, Amazon and FX with five each, while ABC trails behind with four. Ironically, NBC which will air the awards show live on January 10, 2016 has zero nomination this year.

The TV network is also absent in the running for best comedy series. The nominees are Hulu's "Casual", Amazon's "Mozart in the Jungle", Netflix's "Orange Is the New Black", HBO's "Silicon Valley", Amazon's "Transparent", and HBO's "Veep". Meanwhile, FOX's "Empire" manages to get nominated for best drama series against HBO's "Game of Thrones", USA's "Mr. Robot", Netflix's "Narcos", and Starz's "Outlander".

Overall, "Transparent", "Mr. Robot", and "Outlander" land three nominations each and so do FX's "Fargo", BBC's "Wolf Hall", and ABC's "American Crime". In the acting prize, Idris Elba, Mark Rylance, and Lily Tomlin who have already gotten a nod each in movie category add another to their collection in TV department.

Besides those three, the only star who get a double nomination is Alicia Vikander. She is vying for best actress in drama movie for her role in "The Danish Girl" and best supporting actress in motion picture for her role in "Ex Machina".
