'Captain America: Civil War' Trailer Smashed Record for Marvel
Movie

Garnering 61 million views, the first look of the movie starring Chris Evans doubled what 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' earned.

AceShowbiz - "Captain America: Civil War" just broke a record for Marvel before even hitting the cinemas. The first trailer of the superhero movie has already reached 61 million views, worldwide, in the first 24 hours.

The trailer of the film was premiered last week via "Jimmy Kimmel Live!". Captain America himself, Chris Evans, and "Iron Man" actor Robert Downey Jr. were on hand to deliver the first look. The video immediately went global online along with three special posters for the film.

"Civil War" trailer viewing number easily smashed Marvel's own record set by "Avengers: Age of Ultron" trailer which debuted to 34 million views last year. At the same time, it almost doubled the number made by "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" which first-day trailer views clocked in at 23.5 million.

The film will pick up where "Age of Ultron" left off, as Steve Rogers leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain.

"Captain America: Civil War" is released May 6, 2016.
