AceShowbiz - Despite the chilling weather, millions of people stepped out of their houses and flocked the streets in New York City to watch the 89th annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade on Thursday, November 26. They're all expecting to see the musical performances by their favorite stars as well as the giant balloons.
%cGloria Estefan% kicked off the parade with classic hits such as "Conga" and "Turn the Beat Around". %cShawn Mendes% belted out his hit song "Stitches" in his first year's participating in the annual parade.
%cAndy Grammer% delighted the crowd with a performance of "Good to Be Alive (Hallelujah)". There were also %cMariah Carey%, %cJordin Sparks%, %cJennifer Nettles%, %cTrey Songz%, %cPrince Royce%, %cRachel Platten%, %cChris Daughtry% and %cTrain% that entertained the spectators.
Unfortunately, some people complained about the singers' performances. Fans noticed that Carey and Daughtry were lip-syncing during the parade. Not denying the allegation, Daughtry even claimed that other performers at the event did too. "And so did EVERYBODY ELSE!" he tweeted in response to a fan who called him out on the social media.
The musical performances aside, giant balloons of Hello Kitty, Snoopy, SpongeBob SquarePants, Ronald McDonald, Pikachu and many more floated through the streets to add the cheerful atmosphere. Clowns, dancers as well as Mr. and Mrs. Claus also took part in the annual tradition.
