Before winning the Favorite Duo/Group - Pop/Rock title at the 2015 American Music Awards, the One Direction member had an awkward encounter with Taylor's BFF Gigi on red carpet.

AceShowbiz - Harry Styles had an awkward run-in with Taylor Swift's BFF Gigi Hadid on red carpet of the 2015 American Music Awards. The One Direction member even put serious face and rolled his eyes after their encounter.
At that time, Harry and his 1D bandmates were being interviewed by Giuliana Rancic on the red carpet. The E! reporter then invited Gigi who was just some steps away from them. She then asked them, "Have you met before?"

The Victoria's Secret Angels then awkwardly shook hands with Harry. As he moved away from Gigi, he rolled his eyes and showed awkward face. To another 1D member Niall Horan, the 20-year-old model gave a warm hug and kiss.
Some news outlets pointed at Harry's dating record as the reason why he and Gigi were awkward to each other on the red carpet. He was dating Taylor for around 3 months back in 2012. Earlier this year, he was romantically linked to Gigi's other BFF Kendall Jenner. Rumor has it, his breakup with the "Bad Blood" hitmaker went bad to the point that he was said to be the inspiration of her song "Out of the Woods".
The uncomfortable encounter aside, the British boyband won the Favorite Duo/Group - Pop/Rock title at the awards show. The band beat out fellow nominees like Walk the Moon and Maroon 5.
