The mastermind behind 'Grey's Anatomy' and 'Scandal' says 'yes' when asked if she has ever written off a character because she didn't like the actor.

AceShowbiz - Shonda Rhimes made a shocking confession during a visit to Comedy Central's "The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore" to promote her new book "The Year of Yes". She admitted to writing off a character on one of her shows because she didn't like the actor.

"Have you ever killed off a character because you didn't like the actor? And extra bonus points, who was it ... Don't even think about lying," Larry Wilmore asked during the sit-down, to which the TV producer replied, "Yes, and I'm not naming names."

Among the ill-fated characters on her TV shows are Patrick Dempsey's Derek "McDreamy" Shepherd on "Grey's Anatomy" and Columbus Short's Harrison Wright on "Scandal".

At the TCAs earlier this year, Rhimes said killing off McDreamy was not an easy decision. "We had a lot of discussions about it," she said back then. "It wasn't easy or fun, it is never easy or fun. We've been working really hard for a long time together. We're family. Those choices and those decisions are never easy for any of us."

Meanwhile, Short once blamed his struggle with drugs for his exit from Rhimes' TV show.
