The 'Wolf of Wall Street' helmer is expected to bring the life story of the 'West Side Story' composer to the big screen.

AceShowbiz - Paramount is reportedly developing a number of movies in an effort to keep Martin Scorsese under their producing banner. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the studio has extended their picture deal with the critically-acclaimed director through 2019.

A movie about Leonard Bernstein is one of the projects offered to Scorsese. It follows the story of renowned composer whose works included "West Side Story", "Candide", and "Trouble in Tahiti". Josh Singer ("Spotlight") is tapped to write the screenplay for the untitled Leonard Bernstein biopic.

"Marty is one of our industry's most prolific and celebrated filmmakers and he is also an integral part of the Paramount family," said Paramount CEO Brad Grey. "We are looking forward to many more years and many more great films at Paramount Pictures."

Paramount has released Scorsese's last three films "Shutter Island", "Hugo", and "The Wolf of Wall Street". He is currently shooting "Silence" starring Andrew Garfield, Liam Neeson, and Adam Driver. He is also expected to reunite with Leonardo DiCaprio in "The Devil in the White City" and with Robert De Niro in "The Irishman".
