In his new documentary 'Brand: A Second Coming', the British comedian said that vapid celebrity lifestyle was what made him uncomfortable with their marriage.

AceShowbiz - Russell Brand didn't hold back when he talked about the cause of his divorce from his ex-wife Katy Perry. In a trailer of his new documentary "Brand: A Second Coming", the British comedian said that vapid celebrity lifestyle was what made him uncomfortable with their marriage.

"Oh my f**king God. I'm living, like, this life of the very thing I detest: vapid, vacuous celebrity," Brand who looked emotional said while footage of him and Perry walking through a group of paparazzi appeared on screen.

"Fame, power and money is bulls**t," Brand ranted. His rant was immediately followed by footage of the "Part of Me" singer saying, "I don't want to give all this up." The 40-year-old comedian showed surprised facial expression when he heard what Perry said.

Brand and Perry divorced in 2012 after 14 months of marriage. Their divorce also appeared in Perry's 2012 documentary "Katy Perry: Part of Me". According to her documentary, her busy tour schedule made them grow apart.

Of what caused their divorce, Perry told Vogue in 2013, "At first when I met him he wanted an equal, and I think a lot of times strong men do want an equal, but then they get that equal and they're like, 'I can't handle the equalness.' "

"He didn't like the atmosphere of me being the boss on tour. So that was really hurtful, and it was very controlling, which was upsetting," Perry continued. "I felt a lot of responsibility for it ending, but then I found out the real truth, which I can't necessarily disclose because I keep it locked in my safe for a rainy day. I let go and I was like: This isn't because of me; this is beyond me. So I have moved on from that."
