The trio released their 15-minute short film at the opening of Melco Crown Entertainment Ltd.'s Hollywood-themed Studio City resort in Macau on Tuesday, October 27.

AceShowbiz - Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro and Martin Scorsese unveiled their short film "The Audition" at the opening of Melco Crown Entertainment Ltd.'s Hollywood-themed Studio City resort in Macau on Tuesday, October 27. The trio was joined by James Packer who co-funded the movie alongside his partner Lawrence Ho.
Leonardo, Robert and Martin discussed their reunion at the press conference. "The great honor for me is these two men are really like my two fathers in the world of cinema," Leonardo said, "My first film was with Bob De Niro. I was 15 years old. We did a film together called 'This Boy's Life'. I've had the fortune of working with Marty quite a few times."
Leonardo said of "The Audition", "The premise of this competition was very humorous for both of us, because we've both done a lot of films with Mr. Scorsese so what would it be like if we both showed up at this casino competing for the same role but we didn't know it yet. But for me, the great joy was finally getting to be on set with both of these guys. This is the greatest relationship in cinema history in my opinion."
Martin said, "A short film is even tougher in a way because it has to be a film. It has to be not something that is a prologue to a bigger work, it has to be contained in of itself. We all pulled together and we came up with these ideas ... and we shot five days straight. We also tried to make it a heightened ..., not biographical but reality-based with humor about ourselves."
James was accompanied by his girlfriend Mariah Carey at the event.
"The Audition" was supposed to premiere at the 72nd Venice International Film Festival but it was yanked off schedule "due to unexpected technical problems." Starring Leonardo, Robert and Brad Pitt, the 15-minute film was said to be a commercial for the new casino. Venice director Alberto Barbera, however, told The Hollywood Reporter that "it's a Scorsese film, not a commercial. The casino paid for the film, but it's not in the film at all."
