AceShowbiz - Suge Knight and comedian Katt Williams are ordered to stand trial for allegedly stealing a celebrity photographer's camera. According to the Associated Press, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Ronald Coen made the decision at a preliminary hearing on Tuesday, October 13.
The judge said that there was enough evidence to support the robbery charges. In addition, a separate charge of felony criminal threats filed against Knight before he attacked the photographer in Beverly Hills in September 2014 could also stand up.
Responding to the ruling, Knight's lawyer, Thomas Mesereau, denied the allegations. He told PEOPLE, "[Knight] never robbed anyone, and he never murdered anyone. He is completely innocent. He never touched this woman, he never ran after her, he didn't assault her. It's a ridiculous case and he will be acquitted."
Mesereau explained that the 50-year-old record producer was upset because Leslie Redden, the photographer who filed the case, and another photographer were trying to take pictures of his son. "The only evidence that exists is he didn't want his son photographed," Mesereau said. "Any father would have acted as he did."
Redden testified she suffered a concussion and injuries to her hands and wrist in the September 2014 attack. An altercation with Knight during which he called her "b***h" and asked someone to get her camera was recorded on a video camera she wore around her neck.
The photographer claimed she never recovered her professional camera, which was taken by Williams and a woman who attacked her. In the said video, Knight was seen approaching Redden. "I just remember looking at his eyes and realizing it was getting very dangerous," she testified. Regarding her injuries, she said, "There's a rip in my wrist. I'm ambidextrous, but my hands don't work."
