Jon Voight, Carmen Ejogo and Gemma Chan Join 'Fantastic Beasts' Cast

The trio have signed on for the 'Harry Potter' spin-off, joining the likes of Eddie Redmayne and Katherine Waterston.

AceShowbiz - As an adaptation of J.K. Rowling's "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" is in the works, three more actors have officially signed up to star in the movie. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jon Voight, Carmen Ejogo and Gemma Chan will join the cast of the "Harry Potter" spinoff.

Details about Voight, Ejogo and Chan's characters are still kept under wraps. The trio will join Eddie Redmayne, who stars as Newt Scamander, the wizarding world's preeminent magizoologist. Katherine Waterston and Alison Sudol star as witch sisters Tina and Queenie. Ezra Miller plays a wizard named Credence while Dan Fogler portrays a Muggle named Jacob. Colin Farrell is also in the cast, playing Graves.

The movie is currently shooting in England. It will take place 70 years before Harry Potter reads Scamander's book in his wizarding school. The movie follows Scamander's adventures in New York, where he travels to discover and document more magical creatures. Inspired by Hogwarts textbook of the same name, "Fantastic Beasts" is slated for a U.S. release on December 18, 2016. David Yates sits behind the lens and Rowling writes the screenplay.

Voight stars on "Ray Donovan", which just recently aired its season 3. Ejogo's recent movie credits are "Selma" and "The Purge: Anarchy". She will next be seen opposite Ethan Hawke in the Chet Baker biopic "Born to Be Blue". As for Chan, she will appear in next year's "Stratton" alongside "Harry Potter" star Tom Felton.
