'Mosaic' is a project from the award-winning director, so experimental and fresh that it would need a new Emmy category.

AceShowbiz - Steven Soderbergh promises a new era of storytelling with his new project and it's difficult to pinpoint what it is exactly. "Mosaic" is a new experimental movie for HBO which stars Sharon Stone, and quite possibly Garrett Hedlund. Filming will begin next month in Utah.

News about the Oscar-winning filmmaker's project has been heard of for weeks with some reports saying it will have multiple endings and viewers get to help determine which one through an app. In a statement released via HBO, Soderbergh refused to elaborate on the film's nature but confirmed that it would be extraordinary.

"I believe the good people at HBO are genuinely enthusiastic about 'Mosaic' for two reasons: first, it represents a fresh way of experiencing a story and sharing that experience with others; second, it will require a new Emmy category, and we will be the only eligible nominee," he said.

Soderbergh has been known to experiment on storytelling, directing the 1995 non-linear comedy "Schizopolis" and the 2009 faux documentary "The Girlfriend Experience".
