Mahershala Ali and Alfre Woodard who play the characters respectively have been spotted on the set of the upcoming Netflix series.

AceShowbiz - As filming is currently underway for Netflix and Marvel's "Luke Cage", first sneak peeks from the new series now surface. Making their way out via Coming Soon, the pictures give first look at villains Cottonmouth a.k.a. Cornell Stokes (Mahershala Ali a.k.a. Mahershalalhashbaz Ali) and Mariah Dillard (Alfre Woodard).

Both actors were spotted on the set in New York City, which serves as a stand-in for Harlem. Ali donned a three-piece suit to play the Harlem nightclub owner, while Woodard channeled her inner politician in a blue blouse and black pants. Stokes and Cottonmouth are cousins.

According to Marvel.com, Dillard is "looking to bring a new era of change to the streets she grew up on. Her personal life and professional career are thrown into turmoil by both Harlem's newest hero Luke Cage as well as her cousin Cottonmouth's nefarious acts."

It has also been confirmed that Simone Missick (born Simone Cook) will play Misty Knight and Frank Whaley is cast as Rafael Scarfe. Misty Knight is "a Harlem police detective who is determined to learn the truth about Luke Cage." As for Scarfe, he is described as "a hard-nosed NYPD detective who partners with Misty Knight in their Luke Cage investigation."

Mike Colter stars as Luke, a wrongly imprisoned man who gains superpowers in the form of unbreakable skin and superhuman strength by a sabotaged experiment. He will be introduced on "Marvel's Jessica Jones", which is due to arrive in late 2015, before his own solo series hits Netflix.

Also tapped to star on the new series are Theo Rossi (Shades a.k.a. Alvarez) and "Daredevil" actress Rosario Dawson (Claire Temple).
