AceShowbiz - Melissa Rivers took to Twitter on Friday, September 4 to pay tribute to her mother Joan Rivers on the first anniversary of her passing. Melissa posted a tribute which encapsulated how she and her family have gotten through the past 12 months.

"Today marks one year since my mother passed. This was the year of firsts: first holidays, first birthdays, first everythings without mom, without grandma," the newly appointed "Fashion Police" host wrote, "While it's been difficult. I've been amazed by the outpouring of love and overwhelming kindness we've received from family, friends, and people whose lives were touched by the woman they knew as Joan - a woman we all miss so very much."

To honor Joan's life, E! aired a special episode of "Fashion Police" called "Fashion Police: Celebrating Joan" on Thursday, September 3. The special included clips of the late comedian interacting with celebrities like Kevin Hart, Nicki Minaj, Big Sean, Sarah Silverman, the Kardashians, and even Miss Piggy.

Melissa said during the show, "Not only did I never know what was going to come out of my mother's mouth, neither did the stars who were brave enough to sit in the hot seat."

Joan passed away at Mount Sinai Hospital on September 4, 2014 at the age of 81, eight days after she was rushed to hospital following cardiac and respiratory arrest during a throat surgery. Melissa scattered Joan's ashes in a place where they usually took family vacation together in Wyoming.
