The TV actor had just returned home when he heard the alarm and saw smoke coming out of his elderly neighbor's door.

AceShowbiz - "The Good Wife" actor Dylan Baker did a heroic act after trying to save his neighbor from a fire. An elderly woman named Vivian is in critical condition at the hospital but things could get worse if Baker were not there.

The apartment fire occurred on Tuesday, September 1 on the 33rd floor of a building on West 43rd Street just before 4:30 P.M. Baker had only returned home when he heard the fire alarm and saw smoke coming out of his neighbor's door.

"All of the sudden, the alarm went off in the hall, I went to her door and pounded on it, and called her name," Baker told ABC7. "I opened the door and there were flames in the kitchen and the living room and smoke everywhere. I couldn't go in."

He also told NBC, "I banged on the door and shouted her name. I opened her door - I was surprised to find it open - and there were flames everywhere, and smoke was coming out at me so I had to slam the door. I yelled again, I didn't hear anything. So we got the heck out."

Baker eventually called 911 and rescued his family out of the building before firefighters took over the situation. The cause of fire is yet found but quite possible that it started in the apartment's kitchen area. The fire did not spread to any other apartments in the building.

"Vivian's a lovely person, she's a friend of ours," Baker said about the victim.
