The 'Ted' actor is tapped to play an FBI agent who falls in love with a mysterious woman only to find out that she is actually the one he teams up with for a high-profile case.

AceShowbiz - Mark Wahlberg has signed up to star in buddy cop romantic comedy "Partners", Deadline reports. The movie is in development at New Line Cinema with Evan Turner writing the script.

In the upcoming movie, Wahlberg will play an LAPD detective who falls in love with a mysterious woman whom he had a one-night stand with. It turns out that the woman is both an FBI agent and his new boss as she has been assigned to work with him on the case he's currently working. To play the character may not be that hard for Wahlberg as he previously starred in another buddy cop movie entitled "The Other Guys" alongside Will Ferrell.

The project is still in very early stages and is currently in search for both director and female lead. It will be produced by Stephen Levinson (Leverage Entertainment) and is expected to hit U.S. theaters in 2017.

Wahlberg recently appeared in "The Gambler, a criminal drama starring Brie Larson and Leland Orse, "Mojave" and Seth MacFarlane's raunchy comedy "Ted 2". He is currently filming "Deepwater Horizon" and will next be seen in comedy movie "Daddy's Home" that will premiere in the U.S. on Christmas Day this year.
