The Guillermo Del Toro-created series will return for a third season, the 'Louie' companion series get a 10-episode order, and 'Archer' relocates to FXX.

AceShowbiz - More announcements regarding the upcoming TV season were made by FX during the Television Critics Assn. press tour in Beverly Hills, California. The network has picked up vampire series "The Strain" for a third season, gives "Louie" companion series, "Better Things", a series order, and makes an adjustment for "Archer".

"Guillermo [Del Toro] and Carlton [Cuse] have delivered two thrilling seasons of 'The Strain' that are captivating and visually arresting, doing justice to the original novel trilogy and meeting fans' high expectations in the process," said Eric Schrier, president of original programming at FX. "We're excited to see them carry this powerful story into a third season on FX."

FX orders 10 episodes for "Better Things" for 2016. Louis C.K. penned the pilot and Pamela Adlon from "Louie" helped write the story. She will play "a working actor with no filter trying to earn a living, navigate her daughters' lives, have fun with a friend or two, and also - just maybe - squeeze in some private time once in a while."

Meanwhile, "Archer" is sidelined by FX. After six seasons, it's shifted to sister network FXX for a new installment next year. It will be paired with a new show "Cassius and Clay" from "Archer" creator Adam Reed. It follows two bandits voiced by Kaitlin Olson and Lake Bell as they are "looking to survive in a futuristic, post-apocalyptic American South."
