Former correspondents Steve Carell, John Oliver and Samantha Bee as well as actors Josh Gad, Olivia Munn and Ed Helms also show up before Stewart delivers his emotional farewell.

AceShowbiz - Jon Stewart has signed off from "The Daily Show" after 16 years hosting the Comedy Central program. A bunch of his celebrity friends dropped by during his final broadcast on Thursday, August 6, making it a sweet reunion with some of the show's alumni.

After assigning his current correspondents to cover the presidential candidate debate, former correspondents Steve Carell and Samantha Bee showed up with Kristen Schaal to cover the debate. Stewart thanked them for returning and Carell said, "I never left, Jon. Becoming an international superstar is just something I did while I was waiting for my next assignment."

Vance DeGeneres and Mo Rocca returned to do their "Dollars and Cents" segment. John Oliver also returned to talk about his first day on "The Daily Show", while Stephen Colbert showed up to pay tribute to Stewart. "You were infuriatingly good at your job. All of us who were lucky enough to work with you for 16 years are better at our jobs because we got to watch you do yours," he told Stewart, adding that without him, "I'd be back in those hills mining turds with Pappy."

There were also Josh Gad who sang "Do you want to leave the show, man?" to the tune of "Do You Want to Build a Snowman?" from "Frozen (2013)", Olivia Munn who brought Stewart a 70th birthday cake, Ed Helms, Matt Walsh, Dan Bakkedahl, Jason Jones, Dave Attell, Darth Vader, Bassem Youssef, Michael Che, Wyatt Cenac and Rob Riggle. Larry Wilmore, whose show was bumped by Stewart's final "Daily Show", as well as Stewart's successor Trevor Noah also dropped by.

At the end of the show, Stewart delivered an emotional farewell speech. "I can't thank the people who work here enough, and I can't thank Comedy Central enough, and I can't thank the audience enough. Your support over the years," he said. "I want to thank my wife Tracey and my kids Nate and Maggie - not going to look over there! - for teaching me what joy looks like."

He continued, "This show isn't ending. We're merely taking a small pause in the conversation. It's a conversation I have hogged, by the way. I apologize for that! At some point I should have turned the camera around and asked if you have anything to add. I've been dominating this in a selfish way!"

"Rather than saying goodbye or good night, I'm just going to say, I'm going to go get a drink. I'm sure I'll see you guys before I leave," he added. "That's our show. I thank you so much for the privilege of being able to perform it for you, the privilege of being able to do it for you... and now here it is, my moment of zen."

Then, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band sent Stewart off with a performance of "Land of Hope and Dreams".
