'I feel better when I'm onstage dancing and having fun, so I wrote about that!' the singer says of the inspiration behind the song called 'Better When I'm Dancin' '.

AceShowbiz - Meghan Trainor is joining Charlie Brown, Snoopy and others in the "Peanuts" movie. The singer reveals to PEOPLE that she has recorded a new song for the upcoming film slated for release this fall.

Called "Better When I'm Dancin' ", the track was written by Trainor after director Steve Martino asked her to create a song about confidence. "They wanted a song about confidence and knew I was good at writing those. I feel better when I'm onstage dancing and having fun, so I wrote about that!" she explains.

Asked if she's a fan of "Peanuts", she says, "My grandma always had it on; she always had a lot of cartoons on. I was super-duper young, but I do remember when the show was on - it was huge!" Of which character she likes the most, she adds, "Charlie's sister [Sally Brown]. She's a cutie. I also like the new girl - no one knows about [her] yet, but I do! I can't wait for everyone to meet her."

The film's animator thanked Trainor for her song by creating a "Peanuts" version of the 21-year-old songbird in her "All About That Bass" costume. "Isn't it so cute?" she asks PEOPLE of the animated version of herself. "They sent me the first version and I said, 'Don't touch it, it's perfect.' It's the background on my phone!"

The "Peanuts" movie is hitting U.S. theaters on November 6.
