AceShowbiz - New Line Cinema's long-in-development movie, "Rampage", finally gets a director. According to Deadline, Brad Peyton is in talks with the studio to helm the movie which is based on the Midway classic video game.

In the upcoming movie, Peyton will reunite with "San Andreas" star, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. There hasn't been any detail about the plot, but the original game centers on a middle-aged man, a young woman, and an old man who mutate into a gorilla, a lizard and a werewolf, respectively. They turn into gigantic figures and wreak havoc on major cities and landmarks across North America. Many speculated that The Rock would be one of the people fighting against the destructive beasts.

Peyton will also reunite with his producing partner in "San Andreas", Beau Flynn, to produce the movie adaptation. Flynn and Peyton will produce the movie alongside John Rickard ("How to Be Single"). Jeff Fierson will executive produce.

The movie has already had a script which is written by Ryan Engle ("Non-Stop"). It is expected to begin production in summer 2016, after The Rock completes production of "Fast and Furious 8".
