Jesse Eisenberg Explains Comic-Con 'Genocide' Remark, Says It's 'Hyperbole'

The 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' actor says he 'was using hyperbole to describe the sensory overload' he experienced during his presence at the annual convention.

AceShowbiz - Jesse Eisenberg tries to clear things up after his comment about Comic-Con sparked a controversy. The Lex Luthor of "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" earlier compared his experience at the comics-fan convention to genocide.

Later, in an interview with the Associated Press to promote his other movie "The End of the Tour", he clarifies his previous remark, "I of course was using hyperbole to describe the sensory overload I experienced. I sometimes do employ that. I'm a normal person who has normal sensory experiences, so Comic-Con was very overwhelming for me. That said, it was really an honor to be on that end of such jubilation."

Contrary to his previous statement which described his experience at Comic-Con as "horrifying," he now says that it was "wonderful" to be involved in the highly anticipated event. "That people are excited about it in that way is unheard of and thrilling," he adds. "I've been on the receiving end of movies that no one loves and no one anticipates. That's worse, even though it's a much quieter press tour."

As his "The End of the Tour" co-star Jason Segel notes that Eisenberg is the villain in "Batman v Superman", Eisenberg says, "They expect me to use hyperbole! If I didn't, I'd be the hero who usually speaks pretty practically."
