Dave Grohl Says Broken Leg Makes Foo Fighters Stronger: It's 'Blessing in Disguise'

Due to his injured leg, the Foo Fighters lead singer now has to perform from a giant throne during the band's concerts.

AceShowbiz - Dave Grohl talked about the injury he suffered after taking a nasty fall during a gig in Gothenburg last month. Instead of seeing his broken leg as a hindrance, the Foo Fighters frontman considers it a "beautiful blessing in disguise" which has made the band stronger than ever.

"The shows we've been doing lately are our favourite shows that we've ever done," he told Entertainment Weekly. "What seemed like a setback at the time has turned into this beautiful blessing in disguise, where this throne and these crutches and these audiences make us play longer and harder than we ever have. It's this whole new energy in the show."

After taking a brief break, the band is now back on the road. Dave performs from a big chair on stage. "The idea of the throne is just f***ing ridiculous, especially for a band that has never relied on any kind of production at all," he said. "We usually just put the amps on the stage, turn on the lights, and play. Now we've got this throne that shoots lights and smoke out of it and looks like a f***ing UFO with guitar necks stuck in it."

But, "when the audience sees me in that chair, they realize we're all in this together," he explained in a separate chat with The Associated Press. "I'm just a dude with a broken leg and I'm going to give you three hours of everything I got." He added, "I think because of this situation and because of the challenge of just getting onstage to do the shows, the shows are more passionate, they're more energetic."
