The 40-year-old Spanish singer-songwriter is charged with two misdemeanors of obstruction and driving with a suspended license.

AceShowbiz - Enrique Iglesias is facing two misdemeanor charges of obstruction and driving with a suspended license following a traffic stop in Miami-Dade County on May 6. According to Florida Highway Patrol, Enrique was arrested when his white Cadillac Escalade was pulled over for driving in a closed express lane of Interstate 95.

According to a police report, a trooper who saw the "Bailando" singer's car approached the vehicle with lights and sirens on and then pulled the SUV over onto a paved shoulder on the road. As the trooper pulled the vehicle over, the singer "jumped from inside the driver's seat onto the rear passenger's seat," while his passenger, identified as Abel Tabuyo, "jumped from the front passenger's seat onto the driver's seat."

The police report stated that although Enrique "immediately climbed into the right front passenger's seat," he and his friend were placed in handcuffs and taken into custody. The "Hero" crooner invoked his Miranda rights to remain silent and was charged with obstruction without violence. He was also charged with driving with a suspended license after police checked his birth date and social security number through the system.

Abel, meanwhile, "stated he does not know why he switch (sic) seats" with Enrique, the police report said. He was also hit with a charge of obstruction without violence. Enrique and Abel were released after signing notices to appear in court. Both of them plead not guilty to the charges. The "I'm a Freak" singer's next court date is July 10.

Enrique's lawyer has not commented on the issue yet.
