The film about the 9/11 attack on an American compound in Benghazi is officially called '13 Hours in Benghazi' and will be released in early 2016.

AceShowbiz - Michael Bay's Benghazi drama, which was previously called "13 Hours" or "13 Hours in Benghazi", now has an official title and a release date. Paramount announced on Tuesday, June 30, that the movie, "13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi", would hit theaters on January 15, 2016.

The film is based on Mitchell Zuckoff's book of the same name about the September 11, 2012 attack on an American compound in Benghazi, Libya. The movie features John Krasinski, Dominic Fumusa, James Badge Dale, Max Martini and Pablo Schreiber in the cast and revolves around the team of security operators who failed to save the life of U.S. Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens even as they did save other American lives.

Other stars included in the cast are Toby Stephens, David Denman and Freddie Stroma. Chuck Hogan wrote the script while Erwin Stoff produces the movie.

According to the official synopsis of Zuckoff's book, " '13 HOURS' presents, for the first time ever, the true account of the events of September 11, 2012, when terrorists attacked the US State Department Special Mission Compound and a nearby CIA station called the Annex in Benghazi, Libya. A team of six American security operators fought to repel the attackers and protect the Americans stationed there. Those men went beyond the call of duty, performing extraordinary acts of courage and heroism, to avert tragedy on a much larger scale."
