Joni Mitchell's Conservator Denies Singer Is Unable to Speak
Celebrity

Leslie Morris says the 'Big Yellow Taxi' hitmaker 'did in fact suffer an aneurysm' but 'she's speaking well.'

AceShowbiz - Joni Mitchell's conservator Leslie Morris issued a statement on the singer's website regarding her condition. Leslie clarified previous comments made by David Crosby that Joni was unable to speak after suffering from "a traumatic brain injury."

Leslie wrote, "Joni did in fact suffer an aneurysm. However, details that have emerged in the past few days are mostly speculative. The truth is that Joni is speaking, and she's speaking well. She is not walking yet, but she will be in the near future as she is undergoing daily therapies. She is resting comfortably in her own home and she's getting better each day. A full recovery is expected."

David previously said in an interview with The Huffington Post, "To my knowledge [Joni] is not speaking yet. She is home, she is in care, she is recovering. She took a terrible hit. She had an aneurysm, and nobody found her for a while. And she's going to have to struggle back from it the way you struggle back from a traumatic brain injury."

"She's a tough girl, and very smart," David added. "So, how much she's going to come back and when, I don't know, and I'm not going to guess. I love her. She's probably the best of us - probably the greatest living singer-songwriter. I think we're all holding our breath and thinking a good thought, hoping that it's going to turn out OK."

Joni was hospitalized on March 31 after she was found unconscious at her Los Angeles home. In April, her rep denied a report that she was in a coma. "Contrary to rumors circulating on the Internet today, Joni is not in a coma," the rep said in a statement, "Joni is still in the hospital - but she comprehends, she's alert, and she has her full senses. A full recovery is expected."
