Unlike his ruthless brother, Dobiesz's character Alex Randall is described as being 'gentle, loving and kind.'

AceShowbiz - "Outlander" has found Jonathan "Black Jack" Randall's brother. Laurence Dobiesz, who had a small role in "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows", is added to the cast for the upcoming season 2 to tackle the role of Alex Randall, TheWrap reports.

Alex is the younger brother of the main antagonist, Black Jack Randall (Tobias Menzies). He is a curate and secretary for the Duke of Sandringham. Unlike his brother, Alex is described "as gentle, loving and kind."

Dobiesz joins Stanley Weber and Robert Cavanagh who have previously landed roles in the next season of the Starz series. Weber will portray Le Comte St. Germain, "a wine merchant and member of the French Court, who has a reputation for ruthlessness, as well as for dabbling in the occult," while Cavanagh is cast as Jamie Fraser's (Sam Heughan) cousin, Jared Fraser, a successful wine merchant and a strong Jacobite who lives in Paris.

The second season of the historical drama will see Jamie and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) arriving in Paris. Series creator/showrunner Ron Moore recently teased the "completely different" season, "It's more about conspiracies, lies and politics. Getting caught up in the corruption and poison that's happening in Paris at that time, with history, is pushing you toward this inevitable cataclysm - the destruction of the Highland culture. Plus Claire's pregnant and there are the aftereffects of everything that happened with Jack Randall - that's still with Jamie in the second season."
