The 25-year-old surfer takes to Instagram to announce that she and husband Adam Dirks have welcomed a baby boy who is named Tobias.

AceShowbiz - The professional surfer whose experience inspired the 2011 film "Soul Surfer", Bethany Hamilton, welcomed her first child with husband Adam Dirks. She took to Instagram on Monday, June 15, to express gratitude after giving birth to a baby boy.

The expression of gratitude came as a caption for an Instagram picture showing her toting a baby alongside her husband. The picture showed the proud parents looking at the baby with a nice soothing nature background. Bethany wrote in the caption for the picture, "Blessed to welcome our son, Tobias, into the world."

Baby Tobias, in fact, was born earlier this month. "Born June 1st, 7.9 lbs. and 21[inches] Long," she wrote. The happy mom also explained the meaning behind her baby's name. "He is named after his great grandpa Tobias meaning 'The goodness of God.' " The caption was concluded with an expression of how happy she and her husband were about the arrival of their first child. It read, "Adam and I so in love with our lil guy and are stoked to share life with him! #stokedmomma."

When Bethany was expecting baby Tobias, she didn't leave water activities such as surfing and swimming. The 25-year-old surfer appeared swimming with her bump in a number of Instagram pictures. Apparently, she wanted to make her baby accustomed to the water activities before seeing the world. One of the pictures had a caption which read, "Taking the lil one for a swim. Bethany announced her pregnancy in a video she posted on her official YouTube channel in February this year. In the video, she didn't seem too worried about parenting with one arm though she admitted that it might be challenging. "I just adjust and adapt to different things, especially things that are a lot easier with two arms, and I think there's going to be things that are going to be very challenging with one arm but I'll just have to find my own way to take care of the baby," she said.
