'Star Trek' Actress Nichelle Nichols Rushed to Hospital After 'Mild Stroke'

Nichols' rep Zach McGinnis wrote in an update that the actress was resting at an L.A. hospital after undergoing tests and treatment following the health scare.

AceShowbiz - Nichelle Nichols was rushed to a Los Angeles hospital after suffering from "mild stroke." A rep for the "Star Trek" actress, Zach McGinnis of Galactic Productions, announced the news via Facebook on Thursday, June 4, saying the incident happened at her L.A. house on Wednesday evening.

"Last night while at her home in L.A., Nichelle Nichols suffered from a mild stroke," McGinnis wrote. "She is currently undergoing testing to determine how severe the stroke was. Please keep her in your thoughts."

In a follow-up message, McGinnis said that Nichols was resting after finishing the tests and treatment. "Nichelle Nichols has had both a CAT scan and an MRI today," the rep said. "The CAT scan came back negative and we are awaiting the results from the MRI."

"Currently she is awake, eating, in good spirits and able to have full conversations," McGinnis added. "Her right side has shown minor signs or mobility loss but she is not showing any signs of paralyses." He thanked all of Nichols' fans for their love and support at the end of the update.

Nichols was best known for starring as Lt. Nyota Uhura on the original "Star Trek" TV series which ran from 1966-1969. She later reprised her role in six "Star Trek" films.

The 82-year-old actress also appeared on "Heroes" TV series as Nana Dawson and voiced characters on the "Gargoyles" and "Spider-Man" TV shows.
