50 Cent Shares His Thoughts on Jay-Z's Tidal, Says He Could've Made It 'More Interesting'

The rapper says that big names currently related to Tidal don't get to decide where their music will be streamed, so their projects will be available everywhere else too.

AceShowbiz - 50 Cent is among a bunch of artists unimpressed with Tidal. The rapper recently shared what he really thought about the Jay-Z-owned music streaming service in an interview with Letty and DJ Damage for their "The Realest" segment during a visit to Los Angeles' radio station REAL 92.3.

In the chat, Fif revealed that he wasn't invited by Jay-Z to join the service, a move he considered a mistake since he owns his music catalog, unlike most of the A-listers everyone saw during the launch of Tidal back in March.

"The people that you saw there don't even own the rights to their music. They can't say it's just going to come out on Tidal, it has to go everywhere. So why would you actually buy Tidal to get something that would be everywhere else," Fif said and went on arguing that big names related to Tidal like Madonna, Rihanna and Nicki Minaj don't get to decide where their music will be streamed. It's their record companies' decision.

"[The companies] have contracts and companies are gonna do everything to get the maximum performance out of the music. They're not gonna just put it through Tidal as a service," he continued. Fif added that as an independent artist, he "could have made something special come through Tidal."
